OPEN FORUM: BURNING LIFE 2006
So building for Burning Life '06 has been underway for several days*, and when I briefly visited tonight, it looked like construction for many projects on the virtual playa was already complete. As I have for the last three years, I'll be visiting Burning Life's best sites and talking with their creators, starting next week.
What projects are absolutely must-see? Post in Comments, and make your case, including links to screenshots and video, if you have them.
This is a direct portal into Burning Life, active until mid-September, when BL vaporizes.
*Update, 9/6: Be sure to check out the many recommendations of BL sites to
visit out in Comments, and offer more of their
own. (Bumped up 9/6, originally posted 9/3.)

Just for my own shameless self-promotion, and to bump a friend:
Foolish Frost has his unofficial guide to Second Life in a big in-world book edition at Burning Life (Saon) (163, 214, 39). He graciously allowed me to use his leftover prims to resurrect my tribute to the Dark Tower series by Stephen King, and the Field of Can-ka' No Rey can be reached by a teleport door on the ground on the plot. (Given the time-travel aspects of the books, it seemed appropriate.)
If I get a reassigned plot on the 1st, I'll probably do something more original, but I couldn't pass up the chance to bring back my favorite build. :)

I was hanging out in Burning Life yesterday and (since I was unlucky in the lottery boo-hoo) admiring the works of others and I particularly liked the work-up of "the Bus." An avid Ken Kesey fan ("Sometimes a Great Notion" is on my top 5 must-reads list) I admire the effort to create what looks like a mini-monument to the Pranksters. Here's hoping it maxxes out over the next couple weeks!
*I just went back looking for it so I could give coordinates and I can't find it! I'll try later but if anyone either owns it or knows the coordinates, howsabout commenting them here!!!
Cheers,
Gauis

My plot at Burning Life (Modhuine, 133, 22, 27) features some bouncing eyeballs. Yup, bouncing eyeballs.

That bus is at Peace Palace Burning Life: Jerak, Burning Life (Jeraku) (254, 1) seems to get you there, though the bus is now shown stranded and locked. The rest of the installation is very very interesting in its homage to hippiedome, of which I admit I'm a survivor...

If we're getting into the self promotion business, you might like my plot in Tianci (219, 194). Translucent walls hold in a grid of movable, physical, changeable letter blocks -- play encouraged. Let me know what you think, or just make rude words and take pictures. Enjoy!

Thanks for the Slurl, I haven't really seen any other organized information about where to go, even though I had stumbled across bit of it just by searching.
I love the stupa! I will have to go back and cirumnambulate for a while longer. I like the squirting penis statue and penis garden. I guess those are my favorites so far.
Is there supposed to be something happening there? I've visited three times and never saw more than two people in any one place. I thought there would be a party - maybe I'm not invited.

I encourage Fiend Ludwig's exhibit — he has even forgiven me that I've pushed some of his bouncing balls out of the sim *blushes*.

I second the Buddhist stupa.
I also found the dragon a few plots down pretty nifty too. Then there's Dane Zander's little piece of Apollo Gardens. Breath-takingly awesome!
There was also this big purple sculpture that I forgot the name of (something about an artist falling asleep and having a dream) that I took a bunch of shots of. That one was really cool, 'cuz you have to look at it from every angle to get different pieces of the 'story'. Though the notecard provided at the site gives you the overall gist of the sculpture, it really doesn't do it justice.

Alright, to continue the shameless self-promotion:
Suffugium Security, a wholly owned subsidiary of Suffugium Technologies, Inc, has set up an entertaining and informative exhibit of "Police Drones Through History" at Burning Life (Saon) (13, 196, 29).

My personal fave exhibit this year has to be 'Paranoia/Watching the Sky for Planes' by Nebulosus Severine (Krigo 160, 224, 0) - a deeply personal insight into one persons unsettling experience of the Sept 11th attacks and the global repercussions after the event.

One of my other favourite exhibits is the collaboration between two Burning Life neighbours, i7o Zhu & Saajuk Bogomil. They joined their parcels together and have created a huge space to showcase their stunning architecture. It's amazing how their different styles really compliment each other.
