We're publishing a slightly earlier addition of Rik's Event Picks so you can get in on all the July 4th American Independence Day festivities going on all over the grid. For me nothing says the 4th of July like fireworks. So if you like things that go boom, head over to The Boathouse, Wings of Hope, Capitol Hill or the Ginsberg Art Center for some virtual pyrotechnics. See all the July 4th listings for more details.

12-3PM - Fireworks at The Boathouse
The Boathouse is throwing a spectacular 4th of July party with fireworks created by SL artist Eden Toll and live DJing by
DJ Maria Rimbaud, with an eclectic mix of dance tracks from
the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and onwards. At Melanoma (teleport SLURL).
12-3PM - Starfleet Command Independence Day Party
Even the aliens and androids are getting in on the Independence Day festivities at StarFleet Command in Galaxy sim (teleport SLURL).
12PM, 6PM & 9PM - Fireworks at the Ginsberg Arts Center
The Ginsberg Arts Center is hosting a fireworks show featuring a large ground and aerial display created by Tommy Parrott,
Master SL pyrotechnician, for your viewing enjoyment. At Ginsberg (teleport SLURL.)
5PM - DonFranco Dagostino in Concert
DonFranco Dagostino plays the classics of jazz and swing for a special July 4th concert at The Palms in Palm Tree Island (152, 95).
5PM - Capitol Hill Independence Day Party
Come by the Main Lawn of Capitol Hill(Teleport SLURL) for food, music and fireworks.
6PM - Podcaster Meetup
If you are are a podcaster, come hang out with other pod-people during this regular meetup in-world. Today's meeting is on the dreaded subject of "podfade" and takes place on Pitt Island (teleport SLURL.)
6-8PM - Wings of Hope Fireworks Display
Wings of Hope offers two hours of fireworks for your July 4th pleasure, so bring your lawnchair and a friend. At Wings of Hope (teleport SLURL.)
8PM - Welcome Party at Circle of Support Group
The Circle of Support will be having a welcome party to informally gather residents suffering from anxiety, depression and other mental illnesses. At Troppo (246, 41).

6PM - Alcoholics Anonymous Meeting
For those looking for a supportive environment in their desire to stop abusing alcohol, head to this weekly AA meeting at Pamran (27, 163). Free coffee and companionship provided.
11PM - Singles Dance and Speed Dating Game
Come find that special someone at this dance and speed dating event held at Jodis (177, 157). Oh and don't wear the purple wings, they make you look all pasty.

7AM-7PM - Live Earth Concerts Simulcast in SL
Held in conjunction with Live Earth music festivities held all over the world, Better World Island (Teleport SLURL) hosts an in-world stream of international music event. Part of a larger effort to bring attention to the issue of Climate Change.
3PM - Discussion on Cybersex as Cheating
Come to Solchan (118, 97) for a certainly provocative discussion on question of whether or not cybersex constitutes cheating on your partner.
4PM - U2inSL Celebrates Millennium Development Goals
The U2inSL role-playing group is doing a benefit concert for the One Campaign, Make Poverty History, African Well Fund, and Music Rising. at Dragon Moon (127, 208). If you miss it, there's another concert on Sunday, July 8 at 12PM at the same location.

SUBMITTING EVENTS FOR COVERAGE IN NWN
New World Notes often highlights events for the upcoming week. If you'd like an event to be considered, send the description and event link to Rik Riel via IM or e-mail him at rikomatic@yahoo.com.
Main guidelines:
- Events for the coming week must be received by Monday Noon SLT.
- Events posted in SL's official listing board greatly preferred.
- Events with artistic, cultural, scientific, political, creative, and/or educational value preferred.
- Events sponsored or promoted by real world corporations are usually not appropriate to NWN Events. Instead, consider advertising your event on New World Notes.
- Bonus consideration given to game-related or machinima events, and for events with "I've never seen that in SL before" value.

Well, I screwed up. The Podcaster Meetup is at 5PM SLT, not 6PM SLT.
It had it right on SLBuzz and the body of my post, but not the title of my post.
