Skyping SL: Simple hack streams Second Life into Skype

Fire_centaur_skype_demo

Fire Centaur created a Facebook app for Second Life just last month; now in this video, he's demonstrating another groundbreaking SL/Web 2.0 mash-up: streaming SL in real time into Skype's video window.  This is made possible via Crazy Talk for Skype, an application which lets you capture and display a program running on your computer in a Skype call.  (In other words, while Skyping someone, you can show them stuff on your desktop.)  With that installed, all you need to do is run SL in a window, and direct the video capture to Skype.   (According to Centaur, only the caller has to have the Crazy Talk installed.) In effect, then, this makes a webcam-type application for Second Life feasible.
