Do Residents Need Their Own Flag?

Laeflagkirkby In my favorite scene from Seven Samurai, the villagers who've spent most the movie resolutely working together to defend themselves from outside attack, come undone with panic.  They're about to surrender, when Toshiro Mifune climbs to a high point and holds up the makeshift flag they've made to represent their village.  The peasants gradually quit their caviling and bickering as they look up at that tattered banner; their courage returns, their unity is restored.  That moment occurred to me when Laetizia Coronet sent word that she wants designs for a Second Life flag

No, not a flag for Second Life the world-- in fact, she notes, "I want to make clear that this will be the flag of the Residents, not of [Linden Lab]-- but for the community of Residents.  But what symbol and colors would they best rally behind?  Go here for details on submitting your design.

Okay, so am I the only one thinking Eddie Izzard at this point?

"Do you have a flag?"

I don't know why but the image of the middle finger comes to mind.

Sure. Take the Eye in Hand logo and make a clenched fist out of it and there you go.

For one idea that a lot of people could identify with.

Or make a really big flag with all the flags of the world on it all networked together via the SL Eye in Hand logo. That one would pretty much be the literal truth of the matter. But a tad too busy aesthetically speaking.

So somewhere between the protester flag and the United Planet flag lay the ideal.

Cool Idea. I'll look forward to seeing, and possibly flying, the result.

Ye3ah, it would be great. hardly I can imagine residents agreed upon the look of the flag. And, another question, maybe it is quite appropriate to "steal" eye in hand and claim it for ourselves, leaving LL with that ugly cube :)
