SL Surf Report: Glassy Conditions, Beware Havok 4 Physics
I was lucky to grow up on Oahu, so I especially love this blog: SurfWatch, devoted entirely to surfing in SL. I noticed scripted surfboards hitting the grid waters years ago, of course, I just didn't know how hardcore a subculture it's since become, with full-fledged Billabong-style competitions, new surfspot sightings, even election campaigns for the Second Life Surfing Association. Recently, however, trouble has hit the community: SL's upgrade to the Havok 4 physics engine. "Some people have reported that the short boards go a bit nutty when people do flips," board creator Heather Goodliffe notes. That, and artificial waves occasionally cause their regions to lag, leading to Lindens "helpfully" returning them to the creator's inventory. Which, like, totally harshes your buzz on a Newtonian level. Catch the full surf report here.
I came across Surfwatch, by the way, in my new Open Forum search for SL blogs. If you know of any others that are just as cool, please drop by and tell me.

Thanks for the post! Glad you like the SurfWatch blog.
