Open Forum: What Second Life Events Should New World Notes Feature This Week?
This week Charlanna Beresford is taking a well-deserved RL vacation with a respite from writing her Second Life events calendar, Lanna's List, but I'll do my best to highlight events coming up this weekend through to next Wedesday. Know of cool and interesting SL happenings going on in the next few days? Post a description with day, time, and place (ideally with a SLURL) in Comments, and I'll feature as many as I can.

Well, this one is hard to give a specific time and day because it appears to have already begun, and I've found little information on it (and no information in English), but over in the Sendai Sim, the Tanabata celebration is going on. This festival cemebrates the meeting of the stars Vega and Altair when they meet on the seventh day of the seventh month in the Japanese religious calendar. Sendai is located at:

If I've gotten the gist of the signs in the sim, it looks like it may run through August 10th.

Hey, my boyfriend, Nexus, a long time reader told that I should drop a note here, as to an event we're having. So, here it is.
http://slurl.com/secondlife/New%20Bergen/54/51/404
Basically, On Sunday, July 27th, between noon and midnight SL-time (Pacific), I will be hosting a gadget, particle, art, and music show. For all the even hours, Noon, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, Midnight, I will be having a particle show. For all the odd hours, we will be having EXCELLENT live musicians on hand.
As well, we have gadgets and art, all over the show room, which you can either buy, or further look into buying if you would like. Including Nexus' own web browser, Qui Niangao's tool for controlling another avatars camera.
It's just going to be really awesome.
So come about any time, stay for a while, look around, listen to some music. If you catch me during one of my particle shows, drop me a line, and we'll get you in.

I would like to invite people to come, at their leisure, to see my film, "Life on Life," which is streaming on-demand until the end of the month. Summary is below. Thank you for you interest!
"Life on Life" is a 12-minute docu-narrative produced inside the virtual reality platform SecondLife and is composed of vignettes narrating one avatar's path through her first year in the metaverse. From magical safaris and artificial life forms to hackers and virtual suicide bombers, the real world plays itself out around her in virtual space, and Life passes through with hope and wonder intact!
The film explores an intersection of the first and virtual worlds--the drawbacks and the potential.
Please come see it on the big screen and sit in the scene at SecondLife slurl:
