This Saturday and Sunday, Have A Saturnalia Second Life
Older than Christmas and a bit more like Festivus, if you want to get old school this winter, you want to celebrate Saturnalia, the ancient Roman festival where roles are reversed in an air of general wacky merriment. As it happens, it's being celebrated this weekend in Second Life, in the city of Roma, a sim devoted to Roman empire roleplaying. Festivities start tomorrow at 10am SLT, when Roma's Senators will be auctioned off as slaves. Here's the full schedule on Roma's official blog; here's a direct SLURL teleport to the dock entrance into Roma, where a centurion AI will greet you. Speaking of which, Saturday at Noon, Roma's Legio XIII legionnaires will recreate a typical day for the Roman legion-- here's the event schedule on their blog. (Yes, not only does Second Life's Roman roleplaying group have a blog, the legionnaire subgroup has a blog too.)
