Does Selavy Oh Send You Into a Half-Dream State?
Acclaimed metaverse artist Selavy Oh has a new installation called "State of Formation", residing in IBM's Second Life campus -- here are passionate words of introduction from the curator, IBM's Tezcatlipoca Bisiani, though I won't go into further detail here. This weekend, I recommend visiting the site -- [SLurl teleport link here] -- and exploring it first hand for the full effect. The result, writes fellow SL artist Arahan Claveau, was profound to him on a real world level: "I believe this work can have a physical effect on the viewer, I certainly experienced something... It was reminiscent of Bryon Gysin's Dream Machine which was very intentionally designed to induce hypnagogic states." Which would be quite a thing to evoke in a virtual world. So what do you feel, when you visit the latest work of Selavy Oh?
Update, 9/19: Soror Nishi has a good review here, calling it "[A] staggering piece of genius. Selavy has captured the virtual world in one piece of art."

well, I blogged my own review of Selavy's work. I think is one of the best pieces of work I have seen.
...as to the hypnagogic states...hmm... knowing Selavy I would say they certainly weren't intentional any more than ...lighting a bonfire.

Thanks, Soror, I had read your review before and liked it but misplaced the URL.
