City of Perdition Second Life sim

City of Perdition, an adult-themed urban roleplay area new to the Top 50 (homepage here)

Here's the top twenty most popular regions in Second Life last month, according to data compiled by Louis Platini of Metaverse Business, an invaluable service that uses a bot-driven avatar counting system.  As with previous listings, there's a strong presence of beach/tropical-themed sims (about 20%) and sims with a sexy or blatantly pornographic theme (about 20%, with much overlap with beach theme, i.e. Sexy Islands.)  After the name of each sim is the minimum, maximum, and average number of unique avatars in the sim at any given moment:

What other trends do you discern in these most popular of Second Life sims?

Notes on potential bots: If you believe any of these regions are heavily bot-populated, state your concerns (civilly!) in Comments, and I'll contact the region owner, for confirmation. ("NA" indicates data compiling issues for those particular sims.)

Well, I've been to Morris. The rest?

Um..."Bukkake Bliss"?

Right. LL, you know who your customers are. No wonder they shat upon the edu and nonprofit base.

Next!

Komuso Tokugawa

Looking at that list it just confirms the sticky situation LL/SL is in...

It reminds I need to do a version of http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8yRdDnrB5kM ... though I don't think it's the sort of Shaking Jerry Lee had in mind.

Arcadia Codesmith

I'm neither surprised nor dismayed to discover that sex is still a popular human pasttime. I'm a fan.

Isadora Fiddlesticks

oh well, sex sells.

Leondra

Too bad that frequency is the value tallied here.

Ignatius, is "shat" a verb? (i.e. I can use legally in Scrabble?)

"Not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted."

Lol. It's quiet funny to note that the top of the list is Adult sims xD

Well I guess adults are the most busy players?

Sim 'Miami Island' is a strip club with a 10-15 person bot farm high up. Club itself had 2 strippers and zero customers when I visited around 11 PM SLT.

Interesting, however if you want to run your own dedicated virtual world server in a data center, you'll want to check out my "How to Build Your Own Virtual World" article at

http://rocketvirtual.com

It's the most comprehensive yet on setting up the Diva Distro version of opensim.
