A Second Life Blog With Character: Wilmur's Day at the Beach is a Must Read
If it seems like I'm paying extra attention to bloggers and photographers in the SL community lately, it's because... Well, I am. I'm not sure what it is, but it feels like residents have been producing some truly exceptional work this summer, and I can't help but show off as much of it as possible.
Today's blogger fix is from The Dame Steps Out-- a character-heavy fashion blog run by Dame Edith Ogleby that blends entertaining storytelling with the world of Second Life fashion well removed from Barbie-perfect avatars and Charlotte Free wannabes.
Dame Edith is like your most gregarious aunt... Actually, she's Wilmur's most gregarious aunt, which is why the latest post is all about him.
Wilmur's Day at the Beach is a snapshot-loaded recounting of an antic-heavy trip to the beach, starring Wilmur (who bears more than a passing resemblance to Woody Allen) and Benjam. On top of being charming as hell, Dame Edith's blog is an excellent source of inspiration for fellow bloggers and photographers, as post usually list locations, photo props, poses and of course the fashions shown in each picture. Very few blogs do this regularly; even I usually don't, because it can be hard to keep track of all that information in the process of compiling a post. That's why I have to applaud Dame Edith and Wilbur's efforts to go the extra mile and be both entertaining and helpful.
If you like Dame Edith's style, be sure to read the blog's archives. They're well worth your time, and an excellent case study in how to do something beyond the same old fashion blog.
