Designers United is a little more than a run-of-the-mill Second Life fashion event, and the designers participating in DU5 (which runs from September 15th to October 4th) seem poised to drive that point home.
If you need proof, look no further than the mesh outfit on offer from The Secret Store, pictured on the left. Designer Maylee Oh's clever use of the event's Surrealist theme has certainly produced a showstopper, but there's a lot more to it than a single picture can reveal. Both the dress and the shadow are beautifully animated, and can of course be worn without the hanger.

The Secret Store is known for exceptionally pretty and well-made items, so I would expect nothing less from an event-limited release like this. Designers United sets its standards very high, and although there are more than a few interesting, odd, and downright bizarre items coming out at DU5, I suspect that Maylee's animated dress will easily be among the most popular.
That said, there's lots more to see, and several bloggers are already eagerly sharing some of their favorites. If you'd like another taste of what DU has in store before it opens this weekend, check out this post by Nati Williams, this one by Rose, and (of course) the Designers United blog itself.
