I feel that this favors mainland for residential use and estate for themed uses like roleplay or massive events.

That $30 fee is something landlords would want to take out of their renters - that a mainland landlord would not need to do.

Personally I think this is a good thing. The layout of mainland is well suited to being full of residential plots and its kind of a shame that so many have ended up on estates where they're often in smaller isolated pockets, or in those grided out things that have no unity from parcel to parcel that the massive land barons put out.

By contrast a roleplay sim would benefit a lot from the added prims, and usually needs its own isolated sim for theming purposes.

And those massive monthly fashion events - the same holds. The added prims are very handy for some (but many won't need it), and of course an estate sim means they can control for lag and access during pre/post event setup.

The counter argument of course is that an estate landlord will be able to offer prim allowances on residential lots that a mainland landlord could never reach - but at a cost. However I'm not sure this will be highly in demand.

The minute they decrease land fees on a very serious and realistic way, they will get back thousands of Opensimers
