Sincerely Mr. Wagner, I admire your patience and diplomacy. You're trying to help these people and it's like talking to a brick wall.

We've taken very vague references about Sansar and tried to piece them together like a puzzle. One piece was "WordPress" and another was "the masses". Now we have a glimpse of what's been done and the pieces don't seem to fit. Where do "the masses" fit in? Where does anyone fit in who is not part of a very tiny bubble? Please tell me that "the masses" have some bigger part in all of this than being bot donors.

I mean this question just seems so painfully obvious that it's hard to believe someone with any vested interest in this project hasn't stepped up and ask.

When did democratic become a synonym for affordable?

cyberserenity

I have been working with Blender for a long time and i still not get it. It is very complicated. Blender will never work for most hobby creators.

If you want something to be democratic, the most basic and intrinsic blocks of it MUST be free to all or cheap in such a way that it is easily available if you make the effort to show that you want access to it. If it is neither, you have basically used cost to build a wall that privileges one group of people who can surmount these costs, and shut out anybody else who does not have those resources.

There is still some value to be had in having a more concrete workflow, such as requiring all creators for a medium to use a specific toolkit for final publish. This in no way renders a medium undemocratic to me so long as the minimum grade tools that are allowed for use within that toolkit are free and/or extremely easy to obtain with a mediocum of effort and resources.

This is not to be confused with tiered availability, where you have extra functionality gradually added based on your ability to afford extra maintenance payments. It is still democratic if you can only get there in a Citroen 2CV while someone drives past you in a Tesla Model 3 - the latter just put more skin in the game financially, and the system is rewarding that extra risk and committment accordingly.

My general policy with 'whales' in any system I participate within is absurdly dumb simple: Do not put down 'whales' in a free-to-play system, for they may turn out to be the very thing that makes your continued enjoyment of it on cheaper or free terms possible.

And yes, I'll happily admit that Blender, for all the work that has been done on its UI in the current major version cycles, still works like a dog UI-wise.

Patchouli Wut?.. you can translate that for us content peasants?

Since Ebbe seems hell bent on blaming the user instead of taking responsibility for the provider, today I went ahead and per-ordered Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice =) i'm am not a gamer but the $30 dollars on it instead of 'Stuff' in Sansar will provide me a nice distraction from my miserable real life this side of hell.
Ebbe not everyone has months or years to wait until you get it right.

Btw
Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is the first game in years that speaks to me while relating to the character on a deeper inner level.

I don't understand the problem. From basic designers, there is intergrated in Windows 10 3D Paint, a very nice free application that export in the right format for Sansar. More advanced users go on Blender, Maya, 3D Coat, etc. Convert a file from obj to another format is very simple, free and easy. I imported without problems objects from Blocks and Sculptris in Sansar.
So, we are talking about what?
