If you're wondering why the previous entries before the last one are dated from 2003 and 2004, here's the deal: way back in Beta, New World Notes began not as a straight-up blog but as a write-only journal published directly to the official Secondlife.com website. Those entries (with screenshots) are still there, but to inaugurate this new blog, I've reposted many of them here with the appropriate time stamps. Some of them are particularly relevant to recent issues in SL and NWN-- take "White Like Me", which sort of works as a complementary piece to my very recent story on avatars and perceptions of race, "The Skin You're In".
During a web update, "What Will the Island Become", the story of the first private island Linden Lab sold through the open auction market, fell through the archive cracks-- which sucked, because the main players in it are still active members of SL, and the conflicts the island's purchase provoked are still ongoing. Fortunately I was able to dredge up the original text from my PC and post it here.
And the posts from the last couple years? Like lost children cloned by a bereaved family of mad scientists, Jonathan at Federated Media and the folks at Six Apart are working diligently to migrate copies of them here, where they'll appear any day now, as if they never left.
Ever since I started playing SL -- actually, TSL -- I've been a fan of NWN. Glad to see it back!
On a slightly different note, your feed seems to be borked. Or else it's just me.

Thanks!
What's wrong with the feed, though?

Firefox's live bookmarks don't work on it. All I get is an empty folder.

Weird. It could be because of the recent migration (this blog started as nwn.typepad.com). Plz let me know if it keeps happening.

Yeah it's a pain, I use Firefox live bookmarks too. The problem is this:
Error: xml declaration not at start of external entity

Suck. Apparently this blog doesn't know to escape xml PIs either. Basically it's because there is whitespace at the start of the feed, ie a bug in the blog software (though arguably xml parsers should accept that)

OK, checking with the FM experts now...
