The cool thing about creating a logo is that you have to sit down and ponder what you've been trying to convey in your blog all along. One of the entrants in my logo contest just e-mailed to ask me what I want to say with a New World Notes logo, and that got me thinking about why I chose the title three years ago, when Second Life was mostly untamed land with small but established groups of people who had been there from its Beta period. So this is roughly what I e-mailed him back:
America was once called the "New World", but I think SL is now in the 19th century "manifest destiny" era of America, in all its good and bad qualities (innovation, an emerging industrialism and middle class, on the one hand, immigrants getting put through the wringer and indigenous peoples getting dispossessed on the other.)
That said, I'm still taking entries to my logo contest-- details here.
