This week in the arts and culture scene of SL: a creative writing seminar, a cartoon avatar contest, a virtual rave, and-- I love this-- a tech/mech/steampunk fashion show. (As above.) Details after the break.
All times SLT, i.e. Pacific Standard...
Wednesday, May 24
2:00PM - 3:00PM: Writing & Performance Discussion. Hosted by Deidru Valentine, a discussion on creating character and plot.
Saturday, May 27, 2006:
2:00PM - 4:00PM: "Tech and Mech: a unique fashion show featuring the exotic beauty of technology." Currently set to be held in Emerald Gardens Fashion Center. "Witness some of the most unique avatars in Second Life by some of the best designers and builders of cyberpunk, steampunk, modern, and futuristic technology in the world. Fourteen incredible styles will be featured," event publicist Adri Saarinen e-mails me. The event is by reservation only, with preference for designers and members of the media, though Saarinen says they plan to move the show to an island to allow for a larger audience. IM Adri for more information.
7:00PM - 8:00PM: Cartoon AV Contest. Dress as your favorite cartoon character with L$500 in prizes for the top three avatars.
9:00PM - 11:00PM: Trance 'til you drop! DJ Baeo spins trance, techno, and a touch industrial at a virtual rave. L$ for the couple with the best raver outfit.
Super sweet avatar. I must have it!

Who made that av?
Kinda reminds me of The Mission's work.

Correction: I'm zooming into the av inworld and it's recognizably the work of C-Tech mastermind, Compulsion Overdrive. :)
