Creative Commons continues its cultural expansion into Second Life. This Thursday, Fred Beckersted, board member of FreeCulture.org, a student group inspired by Lawrence Lessig's book of the same name, gives a show-and-tell on the group's activities, from protesting DRM to hosting the Film Remix contest to integrating free culture into the community of Second Life. Replete with free T-shirts, Fred gets his rip, mix, burn groove on at the newly unveiled Free Culture Art Gallery, showcasing copies of CC-licensed works. (Real life background for Fred here.)
Also on the week's docket: a virtual luncheon with an esteemed technology professor from India on the island of Harvard's Berkman Center, a machinima film festival, a simulcast town hall with Linden Lab CEO Philip Linden, and more. All the details you need after the break.

We're especially excited to be having the Sarah Mac Band back again this Saturday, as their last appearance was wrecked by the big bad grid attack. Fingers crossed for Saturday then!

Great links! We're excited about Free Culture.
Our first Camp Darfur Comix, the RL print (cc:remix) of our SL project, is debuting this week and we will preview it at the next ManorMeta Mash on Thursday from 5-6 (just before Free Culture) on Better World Island.
We'll have a whole crew here in the studio checking out SL for the first time as we bring our production team inworld....we do 3-6 monthly SL demo events for new team members. Thanks for the heads up on great events to share.
