NWN EVENTS OF THE WEEK, 6/19 - 6/25

Besides Berkman Island's roundtable on avatar-based marketing this Friday, the world is awash with events throughout the week-- most notably, Second Life's three year anniversary as an online community open to the public.  In celebration, there's going to be a five day, round-the-clock extravaganza of live music, speeches, events, contests, etc. put together by Tateru Nino, Torley, and a battalion of volunteers.  Full details (which are being updated even as you read this) after the break.

1:00PM - 2:00PM: Second Life Library: Finding and Evaluating Health Information on the Internet.  Hosted by Lorelei Junot, an expert offer tips for how to search the Internet for health information and how to evaluate the information you find.

3:00PM - 3:30PM:  Meet the Rocket Builders.  The International Spaceflight Museum unveils a model of NASA's C.E.V. (Crew Exploration Vehicle). Builder Jimbo Perhaps will bo on hand to meet visitors and talk about the model and the spacecraft it's based on.

Thursday, June 22

3:30PM - 4:30PM:  Thinkers Discussion: Crowdsourcing.  Futurist Extropia DaSilva hosts a conversation on the ramification of outsourcing work to "the talent-pool of a billion amateurs who are happy to provide all kinds of services for next to no money".

6:00PM - 8:00PM: Supernova 2006 Connected Innovators Showcase.  Catch an in-world simulcast of an event at the Supernova tech conference in San Francisco, in which Michael Arrington of TechCrunch.com announces his choices for start-up companies that are “Connected Innovators".  In-world gala hosted and sponsored by The Electric Sheep Company.
