NWN EVENTS OF THE WEEK, 6/27 - 7/2

A lecture on Cyber Law and an SL-based version of "Mystery Science Theater 3000" are two of the weekly NWN Event highlights-- details after the break.  If there are other events this week you feel are also worth a mention, post the server link and a description in Comments, and if it fits, I may highlight it in an update.  (And if it's blatantly commercial, I'll probably just delete it.)

Update, 6:44PM:  Bumping this up to highlight two more events this week:  launch of a new virtual golf course, and a real world meet-up of Residents in Seattle.

Tuesday, June 27, 4:00PM - 4:45PM: Intro to Cyber Law Lecture.  Presented by otakup0pe Neumann: "A brief overview that will touch upon several facets of international laws as they apply to the Internet. We will discuss authorized access, digital rights, as well as more isoteric things such as 'banned material' and censorship."

Tuesday, June 27, 7:00PM - 9:00PM:  MST3K: The Home Game. Elex Dusk hosts a live event I once described as "like playing a multiplayer first-person shooter where the enemies are stupid movies, and the weapon of choice is snark."

Wednesday, June 28, 8:00PM - 9:00PM: Men's Support Group with Alex Bradley.  Hosted by         Zafu Diamond:  "The focus of this group is to support men in their quest of the masculine soul and ongoing personal growth. The group seeks to become more aware of the issues facing men today. Explore what it really means to be masculine and learn about the many images of men, which also includes our roles as healers, protectors, lovers, and partners."

Thursday, June 29,  5:00PM - 7:00PM:  Real world SL meet-up at the Edgewater Hotel in Seattle, Washington.  Spin Martin sez:  "A whole mess of folks from all over are gonna be in town for Gnomedex and there are quite a few locals up there. Spin Martin, Thought Plasma, Hal9K Andalso and many more will be there."

Saturday, July 1, 11:00AM - 12:00PM: Golf Putting Tournament.  The island of Hollywood unveils a 9 hour golf course. 

Saturday, July 1, 6:30PM - 7:15PM: Fireworks Display for Canada Day.  Come enjoy the rockets' red particle glare for Canada above the Roadhouse in Tawny.

Saturday, July 1, 12:30PM - 1:30PM: Attend a simulcast of the space shuttle Discovery launch at Spaceport Alpha.

Sunday, July 9, 7:00AM - 8:00AM: Second Life Library Author Series: Pamela Woodward and Wilbur Witt.  The co-authors of the recent sci-fi thriller Dobbit Do appear in avatar form at an event hosted by Rain Noonan.

This Thursday the 29th in Seattle, WA is a RL SL meetup, 5-7 pm at the Edgewater Hotel... a whole mess of folks from all over are gonna be in town for Gnomedex and there are quite a few locals up there. Spin Martin, Thought Plasma, Hal9K Andalso and many more will be there.

It's SORTA an event. :-)

Golf launches in SL this Saturday, July 1st. Philip Linden played the course for more than two hours and told us "AWESOME work guys!"

Ah, Hamlet. Sometimes people copy themselves because they're lazy. Then again, sometimes people copy themselves because what they said the first time is simply perfect:

Makes me smile just to experience the ineffable precision of that description again. Elex couldn't've put it better himself ~ and the boy's got some verbal skillz, yo.
