Do you know the eyes of the metaverse God are always watching you, and do you care? Christopher Dodds, an editor for Selectparks (a cool Aussie Kotaku/3pointD/
Terra Nova-ish blog with a Boing Boing twist) has created a survey targeting players of MMOs like Second Life and World of Warcraft, seeking their opinion on surveillance-- by the company who owns the world (omniscient), and by other players (limited, but still fairly intrusive to some.) The topic's an interesting one that comes up sometimes in my own reporting-- some were discomfited to learn that exchanging calling cards in Second Life allows people to "track" each other across the grid, including private detectives-- so I for one am curious to see the results. And fortunately, the survey itself (created for Dodds' research degree) is not intrusive.

Did the poll, reading the questions it is clear that doing a survey that both invites gameworld gamers, and people active in social worlds especially SecondLife, might not give the best results.
For instance is every Linden a Game Administrator, I would say not. Or are there even Game Administrator. I see Linden Liasons as customer support.
And creating extra privacy in SL is so easy and over abundant that the question about should be more precise about what kind of privacy.
Tried to answer it all with a lot of explaining.
Hopefully it will help making clear the differences between Second Life and GameWorlds.
Would have commented on it there, but comments are off. ;)
