Buttonpusher Goodliffe's Expo entry is a clip taken from a larger machinima video project he created that was commissioned by, of all things, the U.S. Federal Courts. See the YouTube clip here. "It's me using the default standing animation for the move and EmoteHUD for the facial expression," Goodliffe exlains. "I think it fits well in the context I used it: 'Oh bleep, they just launched a catapault at us!'" The entire Court-produced video on Internet security is worth a look, as well, if only because it demonstrates the merging of real world footage with SL-based video capture, showing off another use of SL machinima for educational purposes. (And appropriate to the Uncanny Valley Expo, the avatars in Goodliffe's video are, as it happens, more expressive than his actual actors.)
See all the Uncanny Valley Expo entries here; background on it here. Later this month, Clive Thompson will select the Expo's semi-finalists.
