American Residents will be going to the polls tomorrow, but here's a vote any reader can participate in. Feel free to expand on the reasons for your choice in Comments, though try to keep the discussion single-issue. If all goes as planned, I'll be discussing both the survey and select Comments during the BBC's coverage of the US mid-term elections. (Not so strange when you think about it; with 1.25 million+ registered users and growing, and 60% of the user base American citizens eligible to vote, Second Life Residents are on their way to becoming a considerable constituency.)
Update, 11:27am: Evidently, I'm suffering my own private Diebold: the Vizu political poll is currently hosed, and no longer tabulating. Will post an update when it's restored; meantime, please post your write-in ballots in Comments.
Update, 12:03am: Democracy is restored, or something; polling seems to be back and running smoothly again.
To fire off the topic, here's a few possible reasons for selecting either party:
On the plus side: the first major politician to campaign in Second Life is a Democrat; the first national politician to announce a position on not taxing Linden Dollar earnings is a Republican. In the negative ledger: the leading politician to call for government censorship of video and computer games is a Democrat; the leading politician to criticize the network neutrality act by calling the Internet "a series of tubes" is a Republican.
Discuss and vote! Like Election Day, this poll also closes tomorrow.
"American Residents will be going to the polls tomorrow"
perhaps, but only "American Citizens" will get to vote.

Ow, my RSS reader...
Still don't know who I'm voting for, as the Michigan governer race is a bigger slap fight and attack fest then a wrestling federation can claim to give in a show.

Nice of you to mention the Libertarians - the only folks with even a semblance of a world view that would allow something like SL to function the way it should...

Please. If Libertarians had ever achieved any kind of power at all, we would never have had one of the greatest public works of all time, the internet.
