A meditative Shinesse Madison sends along her personal moonlit perspective:
"This is the view from my little hut in Velda. I moved here back in April/May of this year. I've lived all over Second Life but this to me is the perfect spot. When I bought the land, there was this huge castle, and I had no idea exactly how pretty it was here, but my friend convinced me that this would be well worth the price. She was right. I have the perfect view of endless sea and beautiful day and night-time effects...
"The home and all the furniture was built by Barnesworth [Anubis]. I bought it specifically for the open feel. There are no doors or privacy scripts, so my house is always open. A lot of people are put off by that kind of thing, but to me, it just feels right. I added the curtains myself to take advantage of the wind and give it more of that 'romantic' look.
"When I try to explain to people who don't play Second Life that I pay 40 bucks a month to live on the coast in a virtual world, they don't get the point. I think it's the perfect price to pay for a piece of bliss and a virtual escape from the hustle and bustle of New York City. After a long day and often horrendous commute home, I can relax by the sea and chat with my friends.
"It's like those ads...
Monthly Second Life subscription: $9.95
Land Tier: $40
Pre-fab house and furniture: about $9 in Linden Dollars
Perfect view and a piece of happiness: Priceless"
