"For players of Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri, originally created with the aim of organizing multi-player games between Residents, this plan later bottomed out when it came to light that the Windows, Mac and Linux clients for SMAC cannot talk to each other (poor planning on the part of the respective developers for port of the game it seems.)" SMAC is a small group so far, but it gets a NWN assist since I happen to be an admirer of the game, myself.
