Update, 12/4: In Comments, the indefatigable SignpostMarv Martin points to a Wikipedia conversation on breaking up the encyclopedia's SL entry into manageable chunks, and a profoundly frustrated Sativa Prototype offers up her avatar's suicide note to Linden Lab and the world.

The two fellows sitting with me in the above screenshot, by the way, are co-authors of an upcoming book on developing rich Internet applications that'll include a section on, you guessed it, Second Life.

UNCANNY VALLEY EXPO: THE FINAL SELECTION!

The submissions have all been displayed, Clive Thompson has selected the finalists, and now all that remains is a last round of voting to choose the entry which has crossed the Valley by conveying avatar-based human expression at its most lifelike.  This will be done by you, good readers.  Voting runs until the end of next Tuesday, with the winner winning praise and a permanent ad on NWN. 

And thus let the last round in that process... begin!
