"The House of the Harping Monkey," Michelle Morphett writes, "is an Irish pub featuring Celtic and live music, free pool and darts, two open bars, and good company... it's a great place to hang out when you're done with the craziness of the clubs. And believe me, that's where I was when I first found the Harping Monkey. I was completely turned off by the casinos and strip joints in Second Life when a good friend of mine brought me by the pub, which was still under construction then...
"The amazing thing about the Harping Monkey is that it really is a group effort ... when my mouse hand started itching to do some decorating, the owner Chris Taira invited me to jump right in; and when I started investing a lot of my time in it, he promoted me to management though we've never actually met in real life!
"The thing that really sets the House of the Harping Monkey apart from other hangouts, though, is that it was built as the Second Life representation of the online discussion forum by the same name: harpingmonkey.com, which features two hobby games-related podcasts, The Round Table and Misfit Brew. Since my husband and I own and operate Atlas Games in real life, this was a big draw for me.
"Stop by and check out the House of the Harping Monkey when you have a chance!" [Ungnyo 177, 15, 53] It's also where Michelle and her husband will be showing off their artwork throughout December.
