The submissions have all been displayed, Clive Thompson has selected the finalists, and now all that remains is a last round of voting to choose the entry which has crossed the Valley by conveying avatar-based human expression at its most lifelike. This will be done by you, good readers. Voting runs until the end of next Tuesday, with the winner winning praise and a permanent ad on NWN.
And thus let the last round in that process... begin!

Update, 12/2: If you haven't seen them before, the original, large versions of these nominations are viewable in the finalist post.
You know it would be handy if you could plop in an update for exactly what expression each person is supposed to be expressing
Isn't it a little bit unbalanced to have a video entry in amongst photo entries ? I mean I know you asked for video entries, but considering only two people made it through to the blog- never mind how difficult it can be for a newbie to make a video in SL- I'm thinking Uncanny Valley Expo '07 needs to be thought out a bit better.
Photos capture the moment.
A frozen point in time, summing up the essence of the human/avatar form.
A video captures movement, capturing every little nuance of expression.
When it comes to trying to emulate and capture the full range of human expression, comparing photos to videos is really unfair.
You should really have had 3 seperate categories for the expo- Raw photography, Photoshopped photography, and Machinima. Obviously having an overall winder of course.
Uncanny Valley Expo '06 doesn't seem to have taken this into account and has probably excluded a lot of entries because of this.
Not everyone is a Machinimaker, and not everyone is a Photoshop wiz. Although you don't need to be a photoshop wiz to take great photos inside SL.
If I had the time, I probably would've nominated Tateru under grief and sorrow.
The thumbnails in the javascript driven poll form suck. You can't see any of the detail in Cronocloud Creeggan's entry, you can't see the tears in Ida Keen's entry, and I'm quite sure someone borked the aspect ratio on Willow Zander's entry.
Taking all this into account, I won't be voting in this or any future Uncanny Valley Expo till these flaws have been addressed.

I'm not happy with the Java thumbnails, but my assumption was everyone saw them all in Clive's submission. I'll post a reminder in update.

The aspect on mine is borked cos Hamlet cut out the penis! I only entered for fun so getting this far is a bonus :)!

Ah, so Hamlet needs to learn to use the GIMP/photoshop better.
Penis o_O ?
