"At first,I didn't think about a business with this sim," Rocky Sassoon tells me in rough-but-game English (in real life, he's a web developer in Japan). "It's only for makes me relax."
Inspired by Aman Resorts in Bali, Rocky got his friend Jennifer Hana to re-envision a resort in-world, on his island of Cocololo. (Direct teleport here.)
This meant integrating the expectations of a real world resort with the realities, as it were, of metaverse living. "But you know," he reasons, "people of SL doesn't need to sleep. It isn't needed bed and 'room'. Finally, it became open-air hotel."
And now that the island's about to officially debut in early February, Rocky's thinking of ways to subsidize it. "[I] wanted make some money to keep running this sim. Finally, I set a price to wedding chapel now and I'm gonna earn little money from there.
"So, I'm thinking now that I might do some business with that hotel. But I have no idea now." Rocky Sasson frowns. "I hope I was a good planner."
And where in the world do you live? Take a look at the entire Window series for inspiration, read the details for submitting to NWN's World From My Window series, then send me a screenshot or video link of your SL home or favorite haunt.
Cocololo thanks: Scouting tip from Torley Linden
This is such a relaxing place! :D
In some cyberpunk fantasy, I think of retiring on a place like this — when I chatted with Rocky, he seemed to have some similar sentiments.
It reminds me a lot of Thai resorts I've been to; in those ways, it's very comfortable, since I spent much of my youth eating at buffets there.
Jamlet, if you keep doing "THE WORLD FROM MY WINDOW" series, you could easily assemble them into a mosaic (using AndreaMosaic or another program)... that would look teh awesome.
