View Ordinal Malaprop's Twitter HUD demo here.
Twitter is quite literally the talk of this year's South by Southwest, with seemingly half the cellphone use devoted not to phonecalls, but Twittering text messages. There's been a lot of bubbling attention around using Twitter in Second Life-- as I recall, Icon Serpentine first told me about it several months ago, but I was too blinkered to get it then-- but now there's several HUD-driven applications so Residents can send and receive Twitter messages. Ordinal Malaprop, marvelous steampunk mistress of the difference engine, has created one, and a demo is viewable here. (Read more about it here.)
Seeing that Robert Scoble has become an amazingly popular Twitterian, I suspect we'll be talking about Miss Malaprop's device and other Web 2.0-to-Web 3D mash-ups at our panel at 10am CST/8am SLT today. I'm working with the Electric Sheep to stream a videofeed of our panel into SL, and if they can, I'll post the info here.
(My own Twitter profile, by the way, is here.)
Update, 5:11pm Texas time: Information Week has a good summary of the panel.
