Gypsy pauses in his hike to take in the scenery
Johan Durant sends a postcard from Lake Gnoma (direct teleport here): "Hi, let me tell you about Lake Gnoma, the land owned by my friends and I. We have more building work planned, but it's already a beautiful place to visit. Lake Gnoma campground is half of Gnoma, on the east side of the road. The lake itself is in the southeast corner of Gnoma, but the campground actually extends all the way up the eastern side. We initially bought the lake in order to preserve it, but our love for the area quickly led us to purchase more and more adjacent plots until we owned half the sim.
"All around is pristine wilderness, with a forest of mighty pine trees covering much of the land. Overlooking the lake are a couple outdoorsy homes, plus a camping area atop a cliff. Waters gushing from the northern tip of the land rush down to the lake in a twisting river, eventually cascading down the cliff. "Visitors are frequently seen relaxing in various parts of Lake Gnoma. Early on Gypsy and I built a canoe, and we made it freely available to visitors. Meanwhile, Zuleika is always puttering about decorating the landscape, and couples sometimes sit amongst the flowers.
"Here I'm canoeing near the waterfall. Wait, what's that half-buried on the shore?
"Many little secrets are tucked into various corners of Lake Gnoma, and explorers are rewarded with some history of the area, including tidbits about it's owners, Gypsy Paz, Zuleika Deere, and myself. Even though I already know where everything is, I still like to paddle around the lake or hike around our land to see everything. It's a great place, and I am so glad I get to call it home."
hey - does anyone know if there is a little mapping tool or script that will track an AV's path through the metaverse, to show the path taken? I'm thinking of something that would show an actual foot trail left on the map, like a GPS unit for SL. I'm so used to tp'ing--such a device might make walking about on foot and exploring interesting and repeatable. Or maybe something linked to a compass and a distance meter. There might be a game like orienteering for SL... Of course, a mainland hike through a zoning nightmare isn't quite the Appalachian trail.
