"My first day in SL," Chance Takashi writes me, "was the day the first Caledon sim opened, and I fell in love with the Neo-Victorians and with the steampunk style. I didn't officially live there, though, until the Caledon Highlands came into being." He goes on to lovingly describe what followed next, in the community of the future past-- in words, and in this witty travelogue movie, appropriately created as if it was made during the Lumiere era.
"Early on I decided that I didn't want a regular house," Takashi continues, "not with all of the possibilities that were out there. So I built the Observatory. Then when my neighbor moved, I took his adjacent land and created the Ruins, mostly because in a place with hardly any entropy, the very idea of Ruins amused me."
"One might say that I went a little crazy," he allows. But decide for yourself. Or visit him in Caledon through this direct teleport link.
And where in the world do you call home? Take a look at the entire Window series for inspiration, read the details for submitting to NWN's World From My Window series, then send me a screenshot or video link of your SL home or favorite haunt.
I was recently introduced to Chance (howdy neighboor :D) and was given a quick tour of the ruins.
wow! what a fantastic place. Imaginative, well crafted spaces to spark the imagination. I have since gone back several times to explore in more detail. There are little touches everywhere that all add up to an intriguing, fun experience.

Howdy, neighbor! I think what you've been doing with your place is pretty darned fantastic, too.

Caledon attracted my attention early on, as I spend a lot of time just to the East of it. I event branded my Etherflyer with Caledonian colors. :-) I've been thinking a lot more seriously about buying a place there. But the prices are a little higher than my committment. :-(
