Schlink at Techsoup.org's SL site [direct portal here]
A donation HUD, an interactive information site, an education platform-- the possibilities are endless. Techsoup.org, a software/technology provider for thousands of non-profits, is looking for ideas for cool widgets, scripts, and builds for social good, to be used in Second Life (where they also have a large presence) and the broader Web. Even cooler, the top proposals will share cash funding of $100,000 or more. They've already received several SL-based proposals (examples here, here, and here), and they're looking for more.
Final proposals announced at Techsoup's NetSquared event in San Jose, May 29th and 30th. I occasionally do volunteer work for the excellent organization, which numerous friends and loved ones are affiliated with, and gave an SL demonstration with TechSoup's in-world doyenne Glitteractica Cookie at last year's Netsquared. Would love to see an even larger Second Life contingent this year.
Details on proposal submission from Techsoup's Schlink Lardner after the break.
Pitch Your Cool Tech Projects for Social Good @ TechSoup’s Net2 Year2 Conference
NetSquared Year Two (N2Y2) is set for May 29 & 30 in San Jose, and we're looking for talented, engaged developers, hackers, nonprofits, etc. to propose cool new tech projects for social good. Submit project nominations to http://www.netsquared.org/projects/nominate by Midnight PST on April 6th. Twenty projects will have a chance to compete for cash from the NetSquared Innovation Fund.
Project representatives will make their pitches to developers, funders, thinkers and disseminators. Every project should receive a big boost in much-needed resources, and a few will get a nice dollop of cash on top of it, which will be awarded at the conference by community vote.
View nominated projects here, and be sure to join the online community vote beginning on April 9th.
Glitteractica and her Techsoup crew do amazing work supporting other non-profits with technology solutions.
