If you don't like the numbers in Second Life, I often say, wait a couple weeks.
On May 2nd, I reported how growth in maximum concurrent Residents had plateaued to around 39,000 since late February. Last week (as Nightbird Glineux first noticed here), that number tentatively began crawling over 40,000, and since then, has regularly been peaking between 41-42,000 daily. (Screen capture from a few hours ago.)
It's still not clear, of course, why the plateau lasted so long, or whether this growth spurt is destined to last. It comes during the latest social rupture over a Linden policy, and a new host of warnings from some that it spelled the world's demise. Not to take away from their legitimate complaints, but if you don't like the latest metaverse fracas, as I also often say, wait a couple weeks.
