This is one of the best analyzes of Second Life from a traditional MMORPG developer's perspective I've read so far, especially coming as it does from someone whose previous opinion of SL has been, let's say, uncharitable. But then MMO legend Lum the Mad discovered The City of Lost Angels, and a reappraisal followed. You're sure to disagree with at least some of it, but like any informed, well-argued essay, even the points of disagreements are apt to be enlightening. Read it all.

Fantastic article! What a difference between this one and the one half a year ago.
"In Second Life, men tend to become worse, and women tend to become better."
That's certainly worth a thought or two... or even a Thinkers' meeting :)
