I've been mostly underwater with the book these last few months, and the most painful thing about writing The Making of Second Life, has been, ironically enough, having less time to actually go into Second Life. It also means I've been slow to update my archive, so playing catch-up quick now, here's some favorite and/or signature posts from the last few months (mostly from March to May):
Social Scenes:
- What's your social circle?
- A Confucian and a Sufi walk into the metaverse...
- Is that an isthmus, or are you just glad to see me?
Creative Innovations:
- The metaverse gets AdSense-ish.
- Creating an alien ant farm.
Gaming the System (as covered by Onder Skall):
- Onder visits the terrible, beautiful City of Lost Angels.
- Onder finds a place where Final Fantasy never died.
Mixing My Realities:
- Why do sexy women from the real world lose their draw in SL?
- The Rocky Horror Sim-u-Show.
- Virtual Venezuelans protest the real Chavez.
Marvelous avatars and the people behind them:
- A nude descends a staircase-- and then things get even stranger.
- Kazuhiro Aridian and the sensuality of corroded steel.
- A Dickensian steampunk urchin speaks.
- I was a teen space marine.
Machinima Masterworks:
- "My Second Life"
- "Tale from Midnight City" (including interview w/ the creator)
- "Sheena"
Of course, be sure to revel in Iris Ophelia's scrumptious fashion features, Tateru Nino's eagle-eye headcounts of corporate engagement, and Rik Riel's wide-ranging Event coverage.
Hey wait a minute - if this is to be your version of the sitcom where they show clips of old episodes, I would like some ironic running commentary, outtakes and bloopers.
At the very least, Troy McLure presenting it... ;)
