Rik Riel is away, so Tateru Nino does this week's round-up of SL events...
The lapsed, lamented, legendary Starax Statosky is still hanging around in Second Life as an alt, living his dream of creating, without being bothered by people all the time. In celebration of his work, there's a "Hidden Starax!" exhibition for six weeks, in the Oyster Bay region. Many rare pieces of Statosky's work will be shown (though no more than a couple at a time, because face it, the things are intricate and prim-heavy, so keep coming back.) Don't expect to see Statosky's alt hanging around the show, though-- I doubt he'd be interested in attending-- but there are many pieces that will be on display that you probably have never seen, but definitely should.
Also coming up this week: Web 2.0 powered learning, Buddhists dealing with anger, the 2007 BlogHer conference, French oil paintings, hippo rides (you've got to love the hippos) for Relay for Life '07, a YearlyKos pre-con event, and folktales and legends of Japan. All that and more coming up this week...

SUBMITTING EVENTS FOR COVERAGE IN NWN
New World Notes often highlights events for the upcoming week. If you'd like an event to be considered, send the description and event link to Rik Riel via IM or e-mail him at [email protected].
Main guidelines:
- Events for the coming week must be received by Monday Noon SLT.
- Events posted in SL's official listing board greatly preferred.
- Events with artistic, cultural, scientific, political, creative, and/or educational value preferred.
- Events sponsored or promoted by real world corporations are usually not appropriate to NWN Events. Instead, consider advertising your event on New World Notes.
- Bonus consideration given to game-related or machinima events, and for events with "I've never seen that in SL before" value.

So help me, I don't know quite what happened to all the SLURLs. A few of them went missing between draft and publication. There's still enough information there to locate all the events, however.
