Musica becomes machinima: Laetizia points out this music video from an Italian popstar, in which the Sheryl Crow-ish singer becomes a Marilyn Monroe-esque avatar searching SL for her Resident boyfriend.
"Irene Grandi is quite famous in Italy," she tells me. "She made this official video partly in Second Life. As I understand it, this is her latest hit, in the Italian charts at this moment. I am not sure if this is the first use ever of Second Life for an official music vid, but it may well be." For an established pop star, I suspect she's right. The SL machinima portion of the video is fairly impressive, too.
While we're on the subject of Italy, Second Life seems to have gained something in translation there. It's the song title of another top Italian pop act (even though the music video was created with non-SL CGI.) What's more, the world was recently the subject of a Fellini-esque talk show, where the metaverse was discussed in grave tones by an expert panel who sit around a hot babe in lingerie sprawled out on a divan.
No, seriously. Then again, it's arguably the first television segment about Second Life that actually resembles SL itself.
