Hugh Hancock just passed along the nominee list to the EU Machinima Festival, and it includes six seven eight entries created in SL. Most prominent is Robbie Dingo's excellent "Better Life", created last year, along with "Machinima Island", "Dreamed Up", ["A Child's War"], ["You Hypocrite You"], "The Grid Review" (eps 3, 7, and 8), "Comcast Island", and "When the Postman Rings Twice"-- the last three for RL corporate sites in SL.
Dingo fans will likely wonder why his now-classic "Watch the World(s)" wasn't nominated; I'm guessing copyright concerns were a better.
I haven't seen most of these before, and to be honest, my personal list of the best and latest in the form is quite different. (No disrespect meant to the nominees which did get in, of course; hard to know what was submitted in time, because only days away from the deadline, there were scant few SL entries at all.) Anyway, read Hugh's full write-up here.
Update, 7:05pm: EU Machinima's Toby Moore just sent me the full list, including one I initially missed. SL entries in bold.
