There's been some great conversations germinating in recent New World Notes posts, as worthwhile as the stories which provoked them:
- Iris Ophelia's jaundiced look at Armani's official site in SL has stirred much chatter, including observations from fashionista Tenshi Vielle, who says she spoke with the Armani's SL developers in an effort to learn what went wrong.
- The arrival of the Herman Miller company to SL, which offers to exchange "knock off" Aerons for official versions, while going after Resident imitators, has predictably provoked mixed opinion, some praising it, others responding more ambivalently. Kitty Lalonde just posted an extended rant which begins by citing the surrealist Magritte, then crescendoes with, "If Herman Miller think that success in Second Life happens by ridiculing the very people who have raised their brand’s awareness whilst they were still playing on Orientation Island, then good luck to them!"
