Next week I'll be in London for several panels at the Virtual Worlds Forum. (Yes, London. I never traveled the real world as much, until I started working in a virtual one.) If you're planning to attend as well, the fine folks running the event gave me a special discount code for New World Notes readers: use "VIPS064" during registration for a 15% discount. Any savings helps, especially if you're American, and the US dollar now seems even weaker than the L$ against the British pound.
Please don't call it the Virtual Worlds Conference. It is the Virtual Worlds Forum. By calling it the Virtual Worlds Conference you invite confusion with our Virtual Worlds Conference and Expo which was just held in San Jose and our Virtual Worlds 2007 Conference in New York earlier this year.
I cannot tell you how many people have asked me if we are producing the show in London. We are not. The Virtual Worlds Forum is not produced by Virtual Worlds Management a division of Show Initiative, LLC.
Given the confusion I decided to register to attend the event in London but Sasha Frieze, the event's organizer, emailed me telling me I'm not allowed to attend because I am a competitor and that my money would be refunded. Not cool since she attended our Virtual Worlds Conference in New York in March. She even asked for and received a discount for that show.
I'm all for fair competition but she's pushed this to the edge, deliberately creating confusion in the marketplace.

The Virtual Worlds Forum Europe is produced by the Virtual Economic Forum Ltd.
We’re looking forward to welcoming hundreds of attendees to London next week, and we’re pretty sure there’s plenty of room for multiple events. In this emerging industry, may we all enjoy discussing and doing business in virtual worlds.
