Recent SL-related dispatches from the outside world...
MediaShift | PBS: "Hype and Backlash for Second Life Miss the Bigger Picture"
Really great profile of mainstream media coverage of SL by Mark Glaser, media analyst for PBS. Revealing quotes from Wired editor-in-chief Chris Anderson, post-"Lonely Planet" article and subsequent Long Tail discussion: "We’re bullish on SL as a consumer experience and bearish on it as a marketing vehicle." I offer some thoughts too, along with many others.
Business Nation - CNBC.com - "Inside the Second Life Phenomenon"
As featured tonight at 6pm and 9pm SLT on "CNBC’s premiere monthly news magazine show," my book's publicist tells me, along with sending the news.
Nice catch, Wagner! These guys were filming at Virtual Worlds Conference and Expo San Jose in Oct. They filmed quite and talked a about multiple virtual worlds. Too bad they cut all the show coverage out and focused exclusively on Second Life. Congrats to Britney Mason on the coverage.

Once again, this just confirms what I've known for ages... CNBC = clueless. Props to PBS for providing an informed and balanced report.
