Where's the metaverse going, and how will you be able to control your information in a larger datascape where so many larger powers want it? Last week in his regular mixed reality meetup at Stanford, Lys Ware invited noted futurist (and pal) Jamais Cascio to speak on identity and information in the metaverse age. Malburns Writer is generously streaming the video of the 90 minute appearance on his parcel-- direct teleport SLURL to the theater at this link. (Viewer's advice: click "Start", then kill time by catching up on some IMs, clearing out your inventory, and so on-- the unedited video starts with ten minutes of silent pacing.) Alternately, Tara5 Oh took great illustrated notes at UgoTrade-- read those here.
Speaking of UgoTrade, Ms. Oh's epic essay, "Global Communities in the Imagination Age", profiling the work of metaverse consultant Eureka Dejavu and USC Public Diplomacy's Schmilsson Nilsson, is also a must-read on virtual world's as a disruptive power for greater good.
