Rik Riel's weekly round-up of upcoming SL events...
Douglas Story (pictured below) takes incredible up-close photos of flowers that astonish and enchant me. Beginning on Saturday January 5, catch his new "Dynafleur" art installation, that spans an entire sim on Princeton University’s virtual campus (click here to teleport). The massive, beautifully colored installation is presented within a landscape designed by Poid Mahovlich, scripted by Desdemona Enfield and enhanced by the immersive sound design of Dizzy Banjo that reacts to your avatar as you walk and fall through it. You will never see flowers quite the same again.
There will be an opening reception on Saturday from 12PM PST where you can meet with the artists. Ballroom dancing follows from 2 to 4PM.
Also Coming Up This Week: a memorial for a slain Pakistani opposition leader, a concert spanning twenty sims, spin away those holiday pounds, skeet shooting at sea, poetry en español, embodied experimentation, investing in small business in the developing world, and Robin Linden talks community. All that, and lots more fun stuff happening all over the Grid after the jump...

SUBMITTING EVENTS FOR COVERAGE IN NWN
New World Notes often highlights events for the upcoming week. If you'd like an event to be considered, send the description and event link to Rik Riel via IM or e-mail him at [email protected].
Main guidelines:
- Events for the coming week must be received by Monday Noon SLT.
- Events posted in SL's official listing board greatly preferred.
- Events with artistic, cultural, scientific, political, creative, and/or educational value preferred.
- Events sponsored or promoted by real world corporations are usually not appropriate to NWN Events. Instead, consider advertising your event on New World Notes.
- Bonus consideration given to game-related or machinima events, and for events with "I've never seen that in SL before" value.
