But if Nick and Metaversed are the giant, then I am the tiny Lilliputian trying to bite enough toes to get someone's attention.
That being said, the point I am making is that for all given outward appearances with Clever Zebra, Nick is throwing away something very important in Metaversed. So far, Clever Zebra seems to be based around giving away free buildings oriented at non-SL businesses who are entering for the first time. Great, so now we get the same massive empty sims, accept they didn't cost the incoming businesses quite so much money to be failures?
Meanwhile, there are tens of thousands of people like myself who have started successful small businesses in SL. Some of us have even been successful enough to quit our day jobs and run those businesses full time. I am unfortunately not one of them though.
What I would have hoped Metaversed would have done was to help bring real-world investment dollars to our nascent businesses.
You know as well as I do that here in the Valley, millions of dollars a month are being thrown at some really shitty ideas, "web2.0 social networking blah blah blah".
Imagine how much a single round of investment, say $10 million, for the better businesses founded and based in SL would help stimulate development here?
I'm sorry, but I think Nick is doing this all wrong and is focusing on the wrong thing. However, he has the contacts and I don't. So all I can do is bite some toes whenever possible.
Hamlet Au commented on 'Zebra Herding: Free, GPL-ed, 120 Resident Capacity Auditorium'tag:typepad.com,2003:6a00d8341bf74053ef00e5501024d588332008-02-02T22:03:52Z2008-02-02T22:03:52ZHamlet Auhttp://nwn.blogs.comI can't speak to your conflict with Nick, Geuis, but I think it's potentially a very good idea, especially for...
I can't speak to your conflict with Nick, Geuis, but I think it's potentially a very good idea, especially for non-profits and grassroots folks who need a cheap and decent seating venue.
Geuis Dassin commented on 'Zebra Herding: Free, GPL-ed, 120 Resident Capacity Auditorium'tag:typepad.com,2003:6a00d8341bf74053ef00e55025164388342008-02-02T21:32:19Z2008-02-02T21:32:19ZGeuis Dassinthis is so much more exciting than everything metaversed was doing. Try using your influence and connections to help people who are growing businesses in virtual worlds and you might get respect from myself and others again, Nick.
skribe Forti commented on 'Zebra Herding: Free, GPL-ed, 120 Resident Capacity Auditorium'tag:typepad.com,2003:6a00d8341bf74053ef00e5500f7bb888332008-02-02T13:36:55Z2008-02-02T13:36:55Zskribe Fortihttp://www.skribeproductions.com/And they have a sexy video too.
