I got back from Texas and South by Southwest late last night, so Second Life blogging should return to full speed soon. Caught a lot of good SXSW acts old and new (My Morning Jacket, Perry Farrell, etc.), but one in particular deserves a mention here: from Japan by way of New York (with an extended stopover in crazytown), the punk rock trio Peelander-Z was by far the most fun, merging a great thrash sound with anime, intentionally garbled English, and a hilarious stage act that defies categorization (or for that matter, sanity.) No idea if they're even aware of Second Life, but these guys easily capture the sensibility. If they ever perform in SL, they'll be the rare group that'll have to work hard to make their metaverse performance stranger than the real version. Image credit: peelander-z.com.

Whoa, Peelander-Z is like the bastard child of Johnny Rotten, The Village People, and Hard Gay!

*watches Peelander-Z*
I dunno, I still think POLYSICS has more of an electric appeal.

And anyone who disagrees with me might want to get their ears blasted out with this POLYSICS video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j-Dg3QMfWgQ xD

I caught Polysics a few years ago in SF, they're cool. IMHO, however, the Z takes it several levels beyond.

I saw Peelander-Z at the EARL some time ago and it was indeed one of the craziest shows you could ask for in a tiny little club. Bringing them into SL would be . . . quite the event, if you could pull it off.

I remember Snow Crash had a mad/crazy Japanese rocker somewhere in the mix. a poor musician to be sure, but really something to see... when he wasn't getting trimmed down by parcel restrictions.
