Along with a plethora of Second Life-related folks, I'll be at Manhattan's Javitz Center for the Virtual World Conference on April 3rd and 4th, signing my book, mingling and reporting, possibly popping up on a panel or two. Thanks to the Virtual Worlds Management team (this blog is one of their many media partners), New World Notes readers can enter "NWN" as a promotional code, and get a 10% discount. I'm impressed by the range of the panels that they've put together, including a whole track on Virtual Law, panels on MMOs for enterprise applications and open source SL projects, and more.

I understand that registration costs pay for much of what a convention is. But it shouldn't be extraordinarily prohibitive, as this is something I'd love to attend, and I presume many others, were it not for the $800 - $1200 fees.
