Last Friday, the Lindens promised to send me a response to the many questions and requests for clarifications raised by their confusing new trademark policy "ASAP-- it looks like it'll probably be tomorrow or Monday." Since then, Residents have been waiting for more. Harper has been waiting, Dusan has been waiting. Even Crap has been waiting. Late yesterday, however, Linden PR spokesman Peter Gray e-mailed me to say, "Due to a high volume of inquiries on the topic, Linden Lab plans to address these questions in another blog post which should be up soon..."
So watch the official blog for more-- and watch this blog, for the follow-up conversation.
Awww geez. And I stayed up until midnight yesterday hitting the refresh button.
Can't help having a little chuckle at the words "high volume" as if it's a call center and we've all been put on hold.
"Due to a high volume of calls, we can not answer you at this time. Please wait for the next available agent. You will be answered in some sort of priority sequence, the mystery of which is so deeply encoded we'll need to go open source to find it."
*cue tinkly music that's not QUITE on the channel, thus resulting in a painful static screech noise*

They can't even keep their website running. Guess they have more pressing issues... like figuring out why their product remains unusable for an (micro)economically significant amount of time on a daily basis.
I do hope they figure out what the issue is and fix it real soon now.

Indeed I am. Though I'm not the greatest at such things myself, in business your word is your bond. LL's bond is a little shaky right now, and I hope they realize this -- or have the MBAs taken over the place already, and promises are out the window?
Excuse me if I sound a touch sarcastic, but (a) I'm a humanities major, and I have little love for MBAs (unless they're friends or relations); and (b) I'm actually close to calling San Francisco myself to put the come-hither on them. Of course, I'm likely to get placed in the queue to play Hungry Hungry Hippos (grin).
Ah, well; peace be to you and to them anyway.

The blog entry is out. Not a smidgen of movement from the previously established position. Glad I never paid for an SL domain name and used all that time and effort promoting some company's business with no compensation. Guess a lot of people will be learning a lesson in business. it is what it is. Looks like grabbing metaversetrade.org was a good catch.
