Second Life Artist Fights Real-Life Deportation -- InfoWeek
Mitch Wagner expands upon the story I only hinted at here and here, detailing the wrangle behind Eshi's legal situation, along with more about her real life background-- and how it intersected with SL. Here's a golden nugget among many:
... Morris's Second Life friends have written hundreds of letters to their representatives to get the widow penalty stricken from immigration law.
From virtual community to real life political action. Read it all here.
I was one of those who sent a letter to my senators and U.S. Rep. I know I'd be devastated if my partner suddenly died. And for her to fight just to stay brought tears to my eyes.
I know we should enforce immigration laws. But those laws should be just. They can't simply ignore the real people they affect. I hope she is able to stay in the U.S.
