The "Tower of Light" is among the more recent metaverse artworks from Dancoyote Antonelli; it's a strange and looming geometric sculpture built for the Brooklyn is Watching mixed reality gallery exhibit. This machinima by Arahan Claveau perfectly captures the Tower's eerie, irreducible presence. (As this older project suggests, Claveau is himself no slouch in the SL arts.) The video reminds me of the edifices described in Solaris (the original novel, not the George Clooney version for god's sake), intricate and imposing artifacts created for unfathomable purposes by an incomprehensible intelligence. Also lead creator of the Skydancers troupe, Dancoyote Antonelli is the author of "hyperformalism", a theory of art for the digital era, one that I think has profound implications for the larger artworld. I had a long interview with him on that subject recently, and hope to write it up soon (hopefully next week.) Meantime, explore the Tower for yourself-- direct SLURL teleport at this link.

Hi Hamlet,
Really glad you like the film. The sheer scale and audacity of this latest work by DC is something to be admired.
I haven't read or seen Solaris, Bettina Tizzy mentioned it too, so there must be a strong connection.
