Here's an excellent new feature from NWN partner Koinup, the MMO social network-- a Second Life Places directory, an aggregation of SL screenshots uploaded to Koinup with a SLURL attached. These are then listed along three categories, the most important, of course, being Coolest. "The ranking of a place," Koinup Burt tells me, "is based on how many people share on Koinup that place and how many photos there are for that place." So a kind of folksonomic, third-party created Lonely Planet Guide to Second Life-- the very thing Lum Lumley says the world needs most right now.

There's also b.places (at http://b-places.com/), the official SL "Showcase" (where anyone can now submit a place for consideration), MetaLIFE / MetaVOTER by the folks at http://meta-life.net/ , and no doubt more.
